I wanted a dog but Churro object so I have to be content with organic type of pet which he totally agrees. So one fine day when I was at Bunnings, a hardware chain in Koala Land, I saw tulip bulbs on sale. Of course it's never just buying the on-sale bulbs, I had to get a pot, fertilizer, growth mix, gardening gloves so it amounts to $20-$30 in the end. Luckily uncle has soil at home.
With 4 season climate, planting can be quite tricky. Although I bought my bulbs in April, I need to chill them in the fridge for a month. I was suppose to plant them in May but I had a lot of business travel. Did I mention when things happen, they like to happen together?
Anyway, due to frequent travel I decided to plant my bulbs in June so that I am at home to take care of them. As they say the early stages are the most fragile and I really wanted my bulbs to grow. Long story short, after looking up the auspicious planting time in the Chinese Almanac, I finally lay my bulbs into the soil early June. Immediately after that, I remember I should have take a picture of the bulbs first.
I planted a grand total of 12 bulbs. Like all newbies, we tend to follow instructions to the letter, I had ruler, measuring cup and even my aunty's kitchen scale which I had to swear on my dad's grave I will not soil it and poison the whole family. Uncle was amused. Brother was curious and Churro seemed happy and keep nosing around. Probably thought- at last, snack!
Taking care of tulips can be challenging. Too much water and the bulb will rot before it can bloom. Too little water and it will continue dormant.
Me : How to see if there is enough water?
Uncle: Poke your finger in the soil, it you feel moist, then enough water.
Me: Har... no other way meh? I scare got worm bite me.
Uncle: -___-"
The first few days had me starring at the bulbs at every opportunity as if I could will them to pop shoots out with my willpower. It amused uncle to no end. He said be patient. After one week, I stop starring cause it's boring. But one fine day 4 shoots pop up. The euphoria can only be describe as buying a raffles ticket and it turn out to be a winning lottery ticket. Hell YEA!
A week after that, there's still the 4 shoots and...nothing else. The euphoria went downhill to opening a big durian only to find one seed inside.
Darn faulty bulbs....

I wanted to contact you via e-mail but there is no contact link listed on any of your blogs. In any case, I am trying to streamline my blog/twitter/instagram accounts with all the same username, but you currently own "moomoogal" on blogspot. It would be greatly appreciated if you would change the domain name on your old blog (that hasn't been updated in 3 years) so that I can streamline my accounts under the same identity. You may e-mail me at lnmouton@ncsu.edu if you have further questions.
